This year, Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality celebrated Rice Day as a festival with music and collective rice planting. On Asar 15th (29th June 2024), a large group in green T-shirts participated in the event. Many local farmers were unaware of Rice Day. For the first time, representatives, municipal employees, social leaders, members of social organizations, and local cooperative officials participated collectively.
The 21st National Rice Day began with a worship ceremony at the Khaapar Jagnath temple, a significant religious site in Khaptadchhanna. Last year, a municipal-level farmers' network was established in Khaptadchhanna with the coordination of RSDC. This year's celebration was coordinated by the farmers' network, financially supported by the Agricultural Development Branch of Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality, and facilitated by Khaapar Jagnath's common trust.
Seventy participants, including local government officials, the coordinator of the Agricultural Federation of Bajhang district, the coordinator of the Agricultural Network of Khaptadchhanna, and other employees from various departments, participated in the collective planting program. In the past, Rice Day was limited to areas around the district headquarters, leaving remote municipalities with beautiful fields unaware of its significance. However, the Khaptadchhanna Rural Municipality's farmers' network is now making institutional efforts to celebrate and highlight the importance of Rice Day.
